Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has condemned the recent spate of domestic violence incidents in Nigeria, particularly the murder of Mrs. Chioma Nwaka by her husband, Obiozor Nwaka, over suspected infidelity.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Silva expressed her outrage at the rising number of cases where men resort to violence, and even murder, against their partners based on unfounded accusations of infidelity.
She emphasized that such acts of violence are unacceptable and called for the perpetrators to face the full force of the law, including life imprisonment.
Silva questioned the double standard, stating that while men frequently engage in infidelity, it does not justify the extreme and violent response of taking another person’s life.She further highlighted the devastating impact of these acts of violence on families and society as a whole.
Regarding the role of the entertainment industry in addressing this issue, Silva emphasized the importance of enforcing strict sanctions against perpetrators of domestic violence.
