President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his resolve to safeguard and advance the legacy of his predecessor, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. He made the pledge during a condolence visit to Buhari’s widow and family at their Kaduna residence on Thursday.
Tinubu, who arrived alongside top government officials, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former leader, describing Buhari as a patriot who dedicated his life to the unity, security, and development of Nigeria. He noted that Buhari’s contributions to the fight against corruption, the modernization of the armed forces, and the strengthening of democratic institutions will remain etched in the nation’s history.
While addressing Mrs. Aisha Buhari and other family members, Tinubu said his administration would not allow the ideals and principles championed by Buhari to be forgotten. He assured the family that the government would build on the foundation Buhari laid, especially in the areas of infrastructure, social investment programmes, and good governance.

“President Buhari served this nation with courage and conviction. It is my duty, and the duty of all Nigerians, to ensure that his sacrifices are not in vain. His vision for a stable, secure, and prosperous Nigeria will continue to guide our path forward,” Tinubu declared.
He also offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul and urged Nigerians to remain united in honoring his memory by working together for peace and progress. The president emphasized that Buhari’s name would continue to resonate as a symbol of discipline, integrity, and national service.

The visit ended on an emotional note as Tinubu embraced Buhari’s widow and reassured her of the federal government’s unwavering support for the family in this period of mourning.
