The Edumoga Youth Association (EYA) is calling for a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Miss Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, a young woman from the Olaidu community in Benue State. Tessy was discovered lifeless in a hotel room on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, on June 16.
Reports indicate that Tessy checked into the hotel with an unidentified man who was later seen leaving alone. Hotel staff found her unresponsive during routine checks, and she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Alhaji Lucky Itodo, National President of the EYA, issued a strong condemnation of the killing, labeling it “heartless and senseless.” He emphasized that the case must not be ignored and expressed alarm at the increasing number of young women being murdered in Abuja.
“This isn’t an isolated incident. Ritualists and cybercriminals are transforming Abuja into a hunting ground for innocent lives,” Itodo stated. “The authorities must act swiftly. If the capital isn’t safe, then the entire country is at risk.”
Itodo also advised young women to exercise extreme caution when encountering strangers and highlighted the dangers associated with “hookup culture,” describing it as “dangerous and often leading to disaster.”
The EYA has urged security agencies to intensify their efforts to apprehend the killer and ensure justice is served.
They also called on community leaders and the public to support their demand for justice and ensure Tessy’s death is not forgotten.
The FCT Police Command has confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
