
Minna, Niger State – The Niger State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper in connection with a deadly attack in Kontagora Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspect, identified as Nasiru Isyaka, was arrested while visiting one of the victims of a previous kidnapping incident.
On December 29, 2024, armed men stormed Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village, tragically killing one individual and abducting two others. However, a joint security operation successfully rescued the kidnapped victims.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Isyaka, a resident of the same village, had visited one of the rescued victims at their home. The victim recognized Isyaka as one of the kidnappers involved in the attack.
Following his arrest, police recovered a locally made short gun from Isyaka. He subsequently confessed to his involvement in the crime.
Isyaka has been transferred to the Police headquarters in Minna for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The Niger State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the kidnapping gang.
