US Man Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Sexually Abusing Corpse on New York Subway

A New York court has sentenced 44-year-old Felix Rojas to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a corpse on a Manhattan subway train.

The disturbing incident occurred in April 2024 aboard an R train in Lower Manhattan. According to prosecutors, Rojas encountered the body of a deceased man inside a subway car and remained alone with the corpse for an extended period before committing the act.

Authorities launched an investigation after surveillance footage and forensic evidence linked Rojas to the crime. He was later arrested and charged with attempted rape and abuse of a corpse.

During court proceedings, prosecutors described the offense as shocking and deeply disturbing, noting the violation of the victim’s dignity even after death. The judge imposed a five-year prison sentence, followed by post-release supervision.

The case attracted widespread attention across the United States due to the unusual and disturbing nature of the crime, sparking discussions about public safety and mental health concerns within the transit system.

Rojas is expected to serve his sentence in a New York state correctional facility.
