Panic and fear gripped residents of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State after armed bandits stormed a church during a Sunday service, abducting several worshippers.
According to reports, the attackers, who arrived in large numbers, disrupted the ongoing service and forcefully took some congregants away to an unknown location. The incident has left the local community in shock, as worshippers were caught completely off guard.
Security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area following distress calls. In a prompt response, they were able to rescue three of the abducted victims, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of others still in captivity.
Authorities have assured residents that operations have been intensified to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks. Meanwhile, locals have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid rescue efforts.
The attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, especially in rural communities where such incidents have become increasingly frequent.
