More than 400,000 Nigerians have applied for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), prompting the Police Service Commission (PSC) to extend the application deadline by two weeks.
PSC spokesperson, Torty Njoku, said the recruitment portal—opened on December 15, 2025—will now close on February 8, 2026.
The extension followed a review that showed uneven application numbers across states. Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high turnout, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra had relatively low participation.
The PSC explained that the deadline extension is aimed at achieving fair and balanced representation across the country, urging eligible Nigerians, especially from underrepresented states, to apply through the official recruitment portal.
