At least one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been confirmed dead following a terrorist attack on a police position at the Dangote Cement Factory in Kogi State.
According to security sources, the attackers stormed the area in the early hours, launching a coordinated assault on security operatives stationed at the facility. During the exchange of gunfire, a CJTF operative was fatally wounded, while others reportedly sustained injuries.
The assailants were said to have targeted the police post within the factory’s vicinity, causing panic among workers and residents in nearby communities. Although security forces were able to repel the attack, the gunmen escaped before reinforcements arrived.
Authorities have since deployed additional security personnel to the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of critical infrastructure. The police are yet to issue an official statement, but investigations are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.
This incident adds to growing concerns over security around strategic industrial facilities in the region.
