Bandits Attack Wedding Convoy in Katsina, Kill Two, Injure Bride, Abduct Guests

At least two people have been killed, while several others, including a bride, were injured after suspected bandits attacked a wedding convoy in Katsina State.

The attack reportedly occurred as the convoy was traveling from one community to another following a wedding ceremony. Armed men, believed to be bandits, ambushed the vehicles, opening fire on the convoy and causing panic among the guests.

Eyewitnesses said two occupants died on the spot, while the bride sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Several other guests were also injured during the attack.

In addition to the fatalities and injuries, the assailants abducted an unspecified number of wedding guests and fled the scene into the bush.

Security operatives were said to have been alerted and are currently working to track down the attackers and rescue those abducted. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident as investigations continue.

The latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges in parts of Katsina State, where residents continue to grapple with frequent bandit attacks, abductions, and loss of lives.
