According to security sources, the surrender occurred during coordinated operations targeting terrorist hideouts, where troops also engaged fleeing insurgents. In the course of the encounters, eight terrorists were neutralised after a fierce exchange of gunfire, while two suspected logistics suppliers were arrested.
Items recovered during the operations included arms, ammunition, motorcycles and other materials believed to be used for terrorist activities. The arrested logistics suppliers are said to have been providing food, fuel and intelligence to the insurgents.
The surrendered terrorists, who reportedly cited sustained military pressure and internal hardship as reasons for laying down their arms, have been taken into custody for preliminary investigation and rehabilitation in line with ongoing deradicalisation programmes.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations until all terrorist elements are eliminated, while also urging remaining insurgents to surrender and embrace peace.
