Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have intercepted two vans transporting critical logistics supplies meant for fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
According to military sources, the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence on the movement of suspected logistics couriers linked to the terrorist group. The vans were intercepted during a coordinated patrol along a known supply route frequently used by insurgents to move food items, fuel, and other essentials to their camps.
Items recovered from the vehicles reportedly included foodstuffs, fuel, spare parts, and other materials believed to be intended to sustain ISWAP operations in remote locations. The drivers of the vehicles were apprehended and are currently undergoing interrogation to determine their level of involvement and identify other members of the logistics network.
The military described the interception as a significant blow to ISWAP’s supply chain, noting that cutting off logistics remains a key strategy in weakening the operational capacity of terrorist groups in the North-East.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations, intelligence-led patrols, and collaboration with local communities to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
The Nigerian Armed Forces also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts across Borno and neighbouring states.
