Abuja – The Defence Headquarters of Nigeria has directed security agencies across the country to immediately remove all non-essential roadblocks.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Defence Headquarters emphasized that only strategic checkpoints critical to national security and public safety should remain operational. The directive aims to reduce traffic congestion, enhance mobility for citizens, and improve the overall efficiency of security operations.
The statement also urged security personnel to maintain a balance between enforcement and public convenience, ensuring that road users are not unduly hindered. Authorities warned that any roadblocks found operating without justification will be considered in violation of the directive.

This move is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government to reform security measures while minimizing disruptions to daily life.
