B’Haram Members Found on Army, Police Recruitment Lists – Wase

News

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, has raised alarm over an alleged infiltration of Nigeria’s security recruitment process by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking during a public event, Wase revealed that investigations had uncovered suspected Boko Haram affiliates appearing on recruitment lists for both the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force. He described the development as a serious national security threat that must be urgently addressed.

According to him, the discovery was made during a routine verification exercise, where security officials noticed irregularities and questionable backgrounds among some shortlisted applicants. Wase warned that allowing such individuals into the armed forces would compromise national security from within.

He called on the Federal Government, military authorities, and intelligence agencies to tighten vetting procedures, enhance background checks, and ensure that no terrorist element gains access to the country’s security architecture.

Wase further urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and support ongoing security reforms, stressing that the war against terrorism requires both internal cleansing and external combat efforts.
