In a shocking attack, Boko Haram insurgents ambushed Nigerian troops in Borno State, killing two soldiers and two security operatives, the Army has confirmed.
The incident occurred near the Sambisa Forest as troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade were returning from a routine patrol. According to the Nigerian Army, the patrol team, which included both soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), came under sudden heavy fire from the terrorists along the Azir–Multe axis in Damboa Local Government Area.
Despite the fierce ambush, the troops fought back with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat. Tragically, the firefight claimed the lives of two soldiers and two CJTF operatives.
The Army also addressed rumors surrounding the patrol commander, Brigadier General M. Uba, clarifying that reports of his abduction were false and urging the public to disregard such misinformation.Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, praised the courage and dedication of the fallen heroes, highlighting the daily risks faced by service members in Nigeria’s conflict zones.
“Their bravery and sacrifice will not be forgotten,”
he said, extending heartfelt condolences to their families and colleagues.This latest attack underscores the ongoing threat of insurgency in northeastern Nigeria and the continued bravery of those on the frontlines.
