Panic as Gunmen Abduct Six Defence Ministry Directors En Route to Abuja

Panic has engulfed the Federal Civil Service after six Directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence were reportedly abducted by gunmen along the Kabba–Lokoja highway in Kogi State.According to sources, the senior officials were travelling to Abuja from a function in Kogi when their convoy was ambushed by heavily armed men on Tuesday morning.

The assailants were said to have blocked the road, forcing the vehicles to a halt before whisking the officials into the forest.Eyewitnesses said the attack caused chaos among motorists as several travellers abandoned their vehicles and fled for safety.

The exact number of security personnel accompanying the officials at the time of the incident remains unclear.Security operatives, including soldiers and police officers, have since launched a joint search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding areas.

As of press time, neither the Ministry of Defence nor the Kogi State Police Command has issued an official statement regarding the abduction.

The incident has heightened fears among civil servants and travellers along major highways, with calls growing for the federal government to intensify security patrols across the region.
