In a dramatic operation, officers of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, identified as Stanley Chibuike, for allegedly concealing a pistol inside a loaf of bread.

According to police sources, the suspect was apprehended during a stop-and-search operation in Asaba, the state capital. Upon inspection of his belongings, officers discovered a small firearm carefully wrapped and hidden inside the loaf, which he was carrying in a nylon bag.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), while confirming the arrest, described the concealment method as “a desperate and clever attempt to evade police detection,” but commended the vigilance of the officers involved.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is linked to a robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing residents in parts of Asaba and its environs. He is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, warning criminals that there will be no hiding place for them.
