Police Recover Two Luxury Vehicles Stolen From Netherlands, Shipped To Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force has recovered two high-end vehicles that were reportedly stolen from the Netherlands and illegally shipped into the country through Lagos. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the recovery followed credible intelligence shared through the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja.

According to Adejobi, operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, traced the vehicles to a location in Lagos where they were intercepted. He explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the luxury cars — a 2023 Lexus RX 350 and a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser — were stolen from the Netherlands and subsequently smuggled into Nigeria through criminal networks involved in transnational car theft and smuggling.

“The Nigeria Police Force, through collaboration with international partners and Interpol, remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria does not serve as a destination for stolen vehicles or proceeds of crime from other jurisdictions,” Adejobi said.He added that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest members of the syndicate responsible for the importation and to facilitate the repatriation of the recovered vehicles to the Netherlands.

Adejobi urged Nigerians and car dealers to always verify vehicle documentation through authorized platforms before purchase, warning that anyone found in possession of stolen vehicles would face prosecution.
