Human rights activist and social reformer, Harrison Gwamnishu, has expressed deep frustration over the worsening state of insecurity and the government’s apparent inability to rescue kidnap victims in Nigeria.
In a heartfelt post shared on his verified Facebook page, Gwamnishu urged Nigerians to pray fervently never to experience kidnapping, as rescue operations in such situations often prove impossible. He lamented that despite technological advancements, the country’s tracking and rescue systems appear ineffective and are allegedly only utilized when it concerns individuals who openly criticize the government.
He wrote:
“Pray you don’t get kidnapped. When it happens, rescue is impossible. Nigeria’s tracking system is only meant for those that criticize the government. I have seen a lot, and it’s discouraging.”
Gwamnishu, who has been involved in several advocacy campaigns for justice and human rights, noted that his experiences have shown a disturbing pattern of neglect and selective action by authorities. According to him, many victims of kidnapping are left to their fate while their families struggle emotionally and financially to secure their release.
His statement has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing his sentiments and calling on the government to prioritize the safety and protection of all citizens, regardless of their social status or political views.
The activist’s remarks come amid rising cases of abductions across different parts of the country, as citizens continue to demand stronger and more effective measures to combat insecurity.
