Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed reports claiming that it imported dirty or high-sulfur petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) into Nigeria, describing the allegations as completely false, malicious, and misleading.In a statement issued on Friday, the company clarified that it has not imported any refined petroleum products since it commenced operations, emphasizing that all products released from its facility are produced locally and adhere strictly to both Nigerian and international quality standards.
According to the management, the Dangote Refinery is built with cutting-edge technology that ensures the production of cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuels with very low sulfur content. The company noted that the refinery was designed to help Nigeria achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum refining and reduce dependence on fuel imports.“The reports circulating in some sections of the media suggesting that Dangote Refinery imports dirty or high-sulfur petrol are completely unfounded.
Our refinery operates under the strictest global environmental and quality standards, and we are committed to producing fuels that meet or exceed specifications approved by Nigerian regulatory agencies,” the statement read in part.Dangote Refinery further urged members of the public to disregard the misinformation, describing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead Nigerians and undermine the refinery’s reputation.The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, quality assurance, and the continued support of government efforts to achieve energy security and cleaner fuel production in the country.
