The Sapele Local Government Council in Delta State has announced a ban on the use of face masks by commercial motorcycle (okada) and tricycle (keke) riders while on duty.In a statement released on Monday, the council said the decision was part of new operational guidelines aimed at improving security and identifying operators involved in criminal activities within the area.

According to the council, the ban takes immediate effect, and enforcement teams have been directed to ensure full compliance. It warned that any rider found violating the directive would face sanctions, including possible impoundment of their vehicle.The council explained that the move became necessary following reports that some hoodlums have been using face masks to conceal their identities while committing crimes.Residents were urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and order in the community.
