Reality TV star, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming only President Bola Tinubu for the country’s challenges and start holding governors, lawmakers, and local government chairmen accountable for their failures.
In a video shared on her social media page, Tacha pointed out that the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) recently disbursed ₦2.2 trillion to the federal, state, and local governments. According to her, despite the huge funds, leaders at different levels continue to mismanage resources while citizens focus all their anger on the president.
“₦44 billion—yes, billion, not million—was allocated to a local government chairman. Just watch how nothing will be done with it because they know Nigerians will still come out and drag Tinubu or the presidency,” she said.
Tacha further noted that many Nigerians ignore the responsibilities of governors, senators, House of Reps members, and local government officials, even though they receive large sums of money to deliver development. She also argued that Lagos is often unfairly dragged, despite being one of the better-performing states, while underperforming leaders at the grassroots go unchallenged.
“It’s as if Nigerians only like to drag two people—Tinubu and Lagos. Meanwhile, local government chairmen and state governors are doing absolutely nothing. Funds have been given to them; they should be held accountable. Hold them by the neck and demand results. If we start dragging these people individually, Nigeria will definitely change,” Tacha emphasized.
