The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cautioned against moves to push former President Goodluck Jonathan into the 2027 presidential race, warning that such agitation is a recipe for national instability.Wike, speaking on Thursday, said individuals and groups mounting pressure on Jonathan to return to the political arena were not acting in the interest of the country but rather plotting to throw Nigeria into avoidable turmoil.

The former Rivers State governor stressed that Jonathan had played his part in the nation’s leadership and should not be dragged back into a contest that could endanger the nation’s fragile unity. He urged Nigerians to resist politicians he described as “desperate power seekers,” insisting that the country’s democratic process must not be derailed by selfish ambitions.According to him,

Nigeria requires stability, consolidation, and forward-looking leadership rather than a return to old political battles that could polarize the nation.
