Former Big Brother Naija housemate Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has advised the organisers of the reality TV show to take a break, restrategise and introduce fresh ideas to sustain Nigerians’ interest.
Tacha, who participated in the 2019 Pepper Dem edition, made the recommendation during an interview on Arise 360, aired on Arise News.
According to her, the growth of social media has changed how Nigerians consume entertainment, with online conversations, celebrity controversies and trending stories increasingly competing for viewers’ attention.
“I think they need to take a break, restrategise and just come up with something,” Tacha said.
She cited the ongoing public interest in celebrity family disputes, using the issues surrounding music duo P-Square as an example of the kind of entertainment that can attract attention online.
“You don’t want us watching housemates on the show, meanwhile PSquare is giving us part seven of his family issues and stuff we want to hear,” she added.
The reality TV star suggested that temporarily suspending the show could allow audiences to miss it and build anticipation for its return.
Tacha further urged the organisers to develop a different and more exciting approach, arguing that Nigerian audiences have become harder to impress because of the wide range of entertainment available to them.
“They need to cook, like they need to try to do something different which will be much more mind-blowing and more interesting to Nigerians because Nigerians are hard to please,” she said.
Her comments have renewed conversations about the future of Big Brother Naija and whether the show needs a new format or creative direction to maintain its popularity among Nigerian viewers.
