Nigerian entrepreneur and Bitcoin Chief has shared a personal account of how he sponsored his younger brother’s education and relocation to the United Kingdom, only to feel disappointed by his brother’s treatment of him years later.
According to Bitcoin Chief, he spent more than £34,000 to send his younger brother to the UK. He said he paid his school fees and provided him with free accommodation and food while he completed his Master’s programme.
After graduating, his brother reportedly moved out, secured a job and eventually opened a barbing salon with eight chairs in London.
However, Bitcoin Chief said his brother never reciprocated the support by helping his children, claiming that he had never even bought a loaf of bread for his sons.
He further alleged that his brother later built a house in Nigeria without informing him and even took his girlfriend on a birthday trip to Spain.
Sharing what he described as the moment that changed his perception of family, Bitcoin Chief said he once pretended to be broke and asked his brother for £500.
According to him, his brother responded that he had exhausted his money but had about ₦1 million that he was not using. He then requested his naira account details, which Bitcoin Chief provided.
However, he said his brother never sent the money or responded to the message, even after three months.
Reflecting on the experience, Bitcoin Chief said the situation made him conclude that family is not necessarily defined by blood.
He added that he had spent the first half of his life sacrificing for others but had now decided to focus on himself and his sons.
“I have lived the first half of my life for others, and now I have decided to be wicked, selfish, and stingy for myself and my sons,” he said.
He concluded by expressing disappointment over what he described as human selfishness, adding, “Humans are terrible. Just buy a dog.
