Joint security operatives, including the Kwara State Forest Guards and the Department of State Services (DSS), have rescued nine kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to reports, the security team stormed a forest hideout where the victims were being held after receiving credible intelligence about the activities of armed kidnappers in the area.
During the operation, a gun battle broke out between the security personnel and the suspected bandits. Three of the kidnappers were killed, while others reportedly fled into the forest with varying degrees of injuries.
All nine victims were rescued safely and have since been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention.
Security authorities commended the bravery and cooperation of the operatives involved in the mission, noting that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to help combat criminal activities across the state.
