
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has assured Nigerians that every valid vote cast during the 2027 general elections will count.
Speaking on preparations for the elections, Amupitan said the commission is committed to conducting a free, fair, transparent, and credible electoral process. He emphasized that INEC is strengthening its systems and procedures to ensure that the will of the people is respected.
The INEC chairman also confirmed that the dates for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections have been scheduled as part of the commission’s election timetable, urging political parties, candidates, and voters to begin preparations early.
He encouraged eligible Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process, assuring them that the commission remains focused on delivering elections that reflect the true choice of the people.
Amupitan further called on all stakeholders, including security agencies, political parties, civil society organizations, and the media, to support efforts aimed at ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible elections across the country.
