Two young girls who escaped from a terrorist hideout in the Mandara Mountains have been rescued by troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State.
The girls, identified as 15-year-old Bintu Adamu and 11-year-old Sadiya Jummai, were rescued on the morning of July 2, 2026, during a routine patrol by soldiers stationed in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the troops spotted the girls stranded near Armuda Bridge and safely approached them after confirming they were civilians in need of help.
After the rescue, the soldiers secured and cleared the surrounding area to ensure there was no immediate threat before returning to base.
Preliminary findings revealed that the girls had been abducted from the Ngoshe community by terrorists and taken to an enclave in the Chinene area of the Mandara Mountains. They reportedly escaped when an opportunity presented itself and later encountered the military patrol.
The troops provided the girls with first aid before handing them over to the Ngoshe community leader, Mallam Bulama Kunda, for reunification with their families.
