At least 10 people have lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State.
The fatal crash reportedly involved a commercial bus and a truck. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident occurred after the bus, which was allegedly speeding, rammed into the truck.
FRSC officials attributed the crash to excessive speed and reckless driving, urging motorists to obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding to prevent similar tragedies.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The injured victims were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were evacuated to a morgue.
The FRSC expressed condolences to the families of the victims and once again appealed to all road users to drive responsibly, maintain safe speeds, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to reduce the growing number of fatal road accidents across the country.
Authorities have launched further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
