Nigerian singer Skales has raised concerns about the increasing culture of beef, rivalry, and hostility within the country’s music industry, warning that it could eventually result in tragic consequences.
Taking to his X account, the artist cautioned musicians and fans against encouraging conflicts, stressing that love and mutual respect are far more valuable than hate.
According to Skales, the constant promotion of industry feuds could one day lead to the loss of lives if left unchecked.
“One day all this beef that y’all are promoting will cause the loss of lives in this Nigerian music industry. Please y’all better stop before it’s too late. Love is cheaper than hate, so is respect,” he wrote.
The singer also reflected on some of the challenges he has faced throughout his career, revealing that he experienced betrayal and false accusations from people he once considered allies.
Skales claimed that certain individuals spread misleading stories about him after achieving fame and attempted to diminish his contributions and accomplishments in the industry.
“In this industry I was betrayed, lied upon, called a jealous person. People that I thought we were on the same team told many lies about me because they got the spotlight and sold different agendas,” he stated.
Despite the setbacks, Skales expressed gratitude for his longevity in the music business, noting that he has remained relevant for nearly two decades. He credited God and his late mother for helping him overcome difficult moments and continue pushing forward in his career.
