Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the country’s worsening security situation, accusing the government of lacking the political will to decisively tackle insecurity.
Dalung argued that while authorities appear capable of swiftly identifying and tracking individuals who criticise the government online or in public, the same level of efficiency has not been applied to locating and apprehending terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements terrorising communities across the country.
According to him, the continued rise in kidnappings, attacks on rural communities, and other violent crimes has left many Nigerians questioning the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He maintained that Nigeria possesses the intelligence and technological resources needed to combat insecurity but alleged that the real challenge lies in the willingness of those in power to deploy them effectively against criminal networks.
Dalung further called on the federal government to prioritise the safety of citizens and adopt more decisive measures to address the security crisis, stressing that Nigerians deserve a government capable of responding swiftly to threats posed by terrorists and other violent groups.
His comments add to the growing public debate over the state of security in the country amid increasing concerns about kidnappings, banditry, and attacks in several parts of Nigeria.
