Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major success in a clearance operation along the Lake Chad waterways in Borno State, where they reportedly neutralised over 30 terrorists and destroyed several boats used by the insurgents.
The operation, carried out in the lake’s difficult terrain, targeted militant movements and logistics routes across the waterways, disrupting their activities and preventing further infiltration.
Military sources said the troops engaged the terrorists in a coordinated assault, leading to the destruction of their watercraft and significant casualties among the fighters.
The waterways operation around Lake Chad forms part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East under Operation Hadin Kai, as security forces continue to intensify pressure on terrorist groups operating in Borno State.
