Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major win in the fight against crime!
Operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, raided a criminal hideout in Ogidi, Idemili North LGA on March 21, 2026, at about 1:46 PM.
Three suspects arrested:
- Francis Chukwuka Anene, 46
- Emmanuel Obi, 29
- Okoye Chinonso, 35 (alleged serving member of a security agency)
Items recovered:
- Two locally made Beretta pistols
- Four rounds of live 9mm ammunition
- One suspected fake security agency identity card
The suspects are believed to be members of a syndicate involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and terrorising residents of Ogidi and surrounding communities. They are also being questioned in connection with other violent crimes in the area.
In a related operation, police recovered a suspected stolen white petrol tanker abandoned along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway on March 17, 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has assured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to security and urged the public to continue sharing useful information.
Investigations are ongoing. Suspects remain in custody.
