The Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, has been thrown into mourning following the death of a 200-level student of Biotechnology who reportedly died after being bitten by a snake.
The incident is said to have occurred when the student was bitten within the university environment, triggering panic among colleagues. The victim was rushed for medical attention but unfortunately did not survive.
News of the student’s death spread quickly across the campus, leaving students and staff in shock and grief. Many described the deceased as calm, hardworking, and full of promise, lamenting that a young life was cut short so tragically.
As of the time of this report, the university management is yet to issue an official statement, while calls are growing for improved safety measures around hostels and lecture areas, especially concerning bushy surroundings and wildlife control.
