
Panic erupted in Eruku town, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Tuesday evening after armed assailants attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.
According to sources who spoke with SaharaReporters, the attackers stormed the church during a meeting and opened fire, forcing congregants to flee in terror. Three people were reportedly shot dead on the spot, while an unspecified number of others were rounded up at gunpoint.“The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting.

Three people were killed instantly,” a source said. “They gathered others and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know how many were taken.”The assailants are said to have escaped through bush paths connecting Eruku to neighbouring communities, leaving residents fearful and in disarray.
Earlier reports suggested that heavily armed gunmen entered the town through a main route, firing sporadically, which caused residents and travellers to flee into the bush for safety.

Several vehicles were abandoned on the road as sustained gunfire echoed across the community.A traveller who narrowly escaped the attack recorded a frantic video while hiding, pleading for security intervention.

The community is in chaos,” he said.The attackers reportedly moved through surrounding communities unchallenged, leaving a trail of fear and destruction.As of press time, neither the Kwara State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the attacks.
