UNGA 2025: FG Targets Empowerment of 10 Million WomenThe Federal Government has announced plans to economically empower at least 10 million women as part of its drive to achieve a $1 trillion economy.Speaking at the ongoing 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, government officials highlighted womenโ€™s empowerment as a cornerstone of Nigeriaโ€™s economic transformation agenda.

According to the delegation, the initiative will focus on creating opportunities for women in entrepreneurship, agriculture, digital innovation, and small- and medium-scale enterprises.The government noted that women represent a critical force in driving inclusive growth and poverty reduction, stressing that the empowerment programme would be implemented in collaboration with development partners, the private sector, and international organisations.Officials further explained that the policy aligns with President Bola Tinubuโ€™s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises gender inclusion, job creation, and sustainable economic development.

The empowerment of 10 million women will not only improve household incomes but also accelerate our journey towards achieving a one trillion dollar economy,โ€ the statement read.The Federal Government assured that concrete mechanisms, including access to finance, skills training, and market linkages, would be put in place to ensure the success of the initiative.
