Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has addressed growing criticism surrounding his friendship with Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during a recent appearance, the award-winning singer made it clear that his relationship with Seyi Tinubu is based on personal friendship and should not be interpreted as political affiliation or membership in any group.
Davido stated that he is not part of any “City Boys” movement or political organization, stressing that people should not assume he supports a particular political agenda simply because he is friends with Seyi Tinubu.
According to the singer, friendships should be respected regardless of political differences, adding that he has friends from various backgrounds and political circles. He emphasized that maintaining personal relationships does not mean he is involved in politics or campaigning for any politician.
The clarification comes after social media users questioned his association with Seyi Tinubu, with some critics suggesting that the friendship reflected political support for the current administration.
Davido, however, maintained that he remains focused on his music career and personal life, urging fans not to mix his private friendships with political matters.
The singer reiterated that he has the right to choose his friends and that his relationship with Seyi Tinubu should not be used to define his political views or affiliations.
