
At least 11 people have been confirmed dead following a fresh outbreak of violence between residents of the Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities in Nasarawa State.
The clash, which reportedly erupted over lingering disputes between the two communities, quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation, leaving several others injured and forcing many residents to flee for safety.
According to police authorities, no fewer than 50 houses were set ablaze during the unrest, with properties worth millions of naira destroyed. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as armed youths allegedly attacked homes and set buildings on fire, sending thick smoke across the affected areas.
Security operatives have since been deployed to the communities to restore order and prevent further violence. The police also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attacks and bring them to justice.
Local authorities and community leaders are reportedly working to calm tensions and prevent a recurrence, as displaced residents seek shelter in nearby areas.
