Delta State Police have launched an investigation into the murder of Chigozie Udalor, a site engineer, allegedly killed by his employees. The incident stemmed from the discovery that Udalor held a significant sum of money in his bank account.
According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, the investigation began on December 12, 2024, when Hyacinth Nnalue reported his cousin, Udalor, missing since December 10th. Nnalue identified Udalor as the site manager at his fish pond in Akwukwu Igbo community.
Initially handled by the Akwu-kwu Igbo division, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda directed CSP Aliyu Shaba, DPO Ekpan, to conduct a technical investigation.
On March 31, 2025, police arrested David Tacho, who attempted to withdraw funds from Udalor’s account, and Daniel Orshio, implicated in the murder.
The investigation revealed that David Tacho, along with his brother Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel (both at large), and Daniel Orshio, conspired to kill Udalor. All four were employees of the victim.
They reportedly discovered Udalor’s Moniepoint account balance, attacked him with a hammer, and buried him in a shallow grave at the work site.
David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are currently in custody. Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel remain at large. Udalor’s body has been exhumed for autopsy, and police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.
