BREAKING: Three Fulani Leaders Arrested in Kwara Over Alleged Terrorism Links

News

Security operatives in Kwara State have arrested three Fulani leaders, including the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), over alleged involvement in terrorism-related activities.

According to security reports, the suspects are being investigated for their alleged roles in kidnapping and the sponsorship of armed bandits operating in parts of the state. Authorities claim that the MACBAN leader reportedly confessed to assisting several kidnapping operations linked to armed Fulani bandits.

The arrested individuals are said to be over 60 years old—figures who are traditionally expected to act as custodians of peace and community leadership—but are now accused of fuelling insecurity and violence.

Security agencies have emphasized that the case reflects the alleged actions of specific individuals and should not be interpreted as an indictment of the Fulani community as a whole. The development, they say, underscores the importance of individual accountability and the rule of law in addressing insecurity.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that all suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law if the allegations are proven.
