The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, announcing the arrest of over 627 suspects and the recovery of 144 firearms, including 27 AK-47 rifles, within the past year.
According to the Command, the arrests were made during sustained intelligence-led operations, stop-and-search activities, raids on criminal hideouts, and joint security patrols across the state. The recovered weapons also include locally made guns, pump-action rifles, pistols, and assorted ammunition.
Police authorities disclosed that many of the suspects are linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other violent crimes that have threatened public safety in the state.
The Commissioner of Police commended officers and men of the Command for their dedication and resilience, noting that the achievements reflect improved intelligence gathering and community collaboration.
He also reassured residents that the Command remains committed to sustaining the momentum against criminal elements.
Members of the public were urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial to keeping Delta State safe and secure.
