The Kogi State Government has launched an intensive aerial and ground security operation following an armed bandit attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area.
A video posted on Facebook by Egbe Emekun Parrot and credited to Olusegun Iselaiye on Sunday shows a state-operated helicopter and an anti-kidnapping squad sweeping through the community as they search for the attackers.

During the incident, the church pastor—popularly known as Orlando—and an unspecified number of worshippers were reportedly abducted.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of November 30, 2025, has intensified fear among residents and deepened concerns over escalating insecurity in the region.
According to SaharaReporters, security personnel are currently working to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe release of the captives.
Earlier, SaharaReporters published video footage from Ejiba showing the aftermath of the assault. The visuals captured the church’s interior in disarray, with shoes, Bibles, and other personal items abandoned by fleeing congregants.

In the video, the individual recording narrated how the abduction happened while calling for urgent intervention.
“I hid myself. This is the church where they abducted people. You are seeing where they kidnapped people at Ejiba. Please, save us. Baba Orlando, the head of this church, was abducted. You can see the inside—they didn’t even switch off the speaker or anything,” he said in Yoruba.
The incident is the latest in a growing wave of violent attacks on worship centres and rural communities across Kogi State and other parts of Nigeria, renewing calls for stronger and more coordinated security measures.
