China has strongly condemned the United States over its recent threat to take military action against Nigeria, declaring its firm opposition to any form of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the West African nation.Beijing made its position clear in a statement released on Tuesday by its Foreign Ministry, emphasizing that Nigeria is a sovereign nation capable of resolving its domestic issues without external coercion.According to the statement, China described the U.S. warning as “an act of intimidation that undermines global peace and stability,” stressing that disputes or concerns involving Nigeria should be addressed through dialogue and mutual respect rather than the use of force.
“China firmly supports Nigeria’s independence, unity, and territorial integrity,” the statement read. “We oppose any threat or unilateral military action that disregards international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.”The Chinese government also reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Nigeria, noting that both countries share a history of cooperation based on equality and non-interference.“China and Nigeria have always maintained mutual trust and respect.
