A public affairs analyst, Alaibi Nnana Joseph, has criticized those calling on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.Joseph described the persistent calls for Atiku’s retirement as unnecessary and politically motivated, arguing that the former vice president has every constitutional right to participate in future elections.
He noted that democracy thrives on freedom of choice and competition, stressing that age should not be used as a tool to silence experienced politicians who still have the capacity to contribute to national development.Joseph further advised Atiku’s critics to focus on presenting better candidates and ideas rather than attempting to push a seasoned politician out of the race through public pressure.According to him,
“Leadership is not about age but vision, capacity, and experience. If Nigerians still believe in Atiku’s leadership, no one should deny them that choice.”
