The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reportedly uncovered a suspected counterfeit beverage production facility at Zamfara Plaza, BBA Trade Fair Complex, in Lagos State.
According to reports, two suspects were arrested at the location over their alleged involvement in the revalidation of energy drinks, Bullet drinks, and popular wine and whisky brands.
The discovery has raised concerns about the safety and authenticity of alcoholic and energy drinks circulating in the Nigerian market, particularly products that may be sold to unsuspecting consumers as genuine.
The alleged activity could pose serious health risks if beverages are tampered with, improperly handled, or distributed without meeting the required safety and quality standards.
NAFDAC has continued its efforts to combat the production and distribution of counterfeit and substandard regulated products in the country, as such activities can endanger public health and undermine consumer confidence.
Consumers are advised to purchase beverages from reputable retailers, carefully inspect product packaging and seals, and avoid drinks with suspicious labels, damaged packaging, or questionable sources.
The identities of the arrested suspects and further details about the investigation were not provided in the report. The allegations remain subject to investigation and should not be treated as proof of guilt.
