Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has urged Nigerians to take an active role in monitoring and independently tracking election results during the 2027 general elections.
Oseni encouraged citizens to pay close attention to results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and independently collate the figures as they are released.
According to him, monitoring the results and comparing figures from different polling units could help citizens identify discrepancies and promote greater transparency in the electoral process.
He, however, stressed that Nigerians should distinguish between independently collated figures and the official declaration of election results.
Oseni noted that, under the law, INEC remains the only body legally empowered to declare the final results of elections.
He therefore urged Nigerians not to be misled by unofficial figures or premature claims of victory, but to rely on verified information while following the official process.
