Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman, , has sparked reactions online after making bold claims about the economic strength and development of Imo State during a recent live video.

Speaking during the broadcast, the Owerri-based businessman said he had reached a point in his life where he could freely express his opinions without being intimidated by anyone.

Chief Priest highlighted his hospitality business and challenged people from other Igbo states, particularly Anambra, to point to similar investments and economic contributions in their own cities.

“As someone who has built a hospitality empire in my city, Owerri, what have you built in your own city? What is your staking power?”

He went on to claim that land values in Imo State, especially around Owerri, have risen significantly, alleging that some locations are now more expensive than comparable areas in Anambra and other parts of the Southeast.

According to him, land opposite his hotel is reportedly valued at about ₦3 billion for 1,000 square metres, which he presented as evidence of Owerri’s growing economic value.

The businessman also pointed to infrastructure and entertainment opportunities in Imo, arguing that the state has developed facilities that attract people from neighbouring states.

“We have power plants in Imo State to generate our energy. Do you have that in your own state?” he asked.

Chief Priest further claimed that people from other states, including Anambra, often travel to Imo to spend money because of the entertainment, hospitality and leisure opportunities available in Owerri.

He concluded by saying he would continue to challenge other Igbo states while praising what he described as the achievements of Imo people.

His comments have since generated discussions online, with some viewers agreeing with his assessment of Owerri’s growth, while others questioned the comparisons he made between Imo and Anambra.

The remarks have also reignited the familiar online rivalry and debate over which Southeast state is leading in terms of business, infrastructure, investment and economic development.
